Joyce E. Jamieson

Joyce E. Jamieson of Cadillac died very peacefully surrounded be her beloved family on July 7, 2024 at Samaritas Senior Living. Joyce was born in Cadillac to Ralph and Alma O. (Anderson) Jamieson. She was proud to be from Cadillac. Growing up her family owned Clover Leaf Dairy and Joyce loved riding her Dad’s milk wagon with her sister making deliveries. She graduated from Cadillac High School before attending Michigan State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree and graduated with honors. She began working for Wexford County DHS and later moved to MESC as an employment counselor where she retired from after 30 years. She had great friendships with her co coworkers and loved the Alaska adventures they took together. Joyce loved all Northern Michigan had to offer and partly due to her childhood on a farm she felt strongly about agricultural support and education. She was an avid rock collector and had a deep passion for native Michigan wildflowers. She was proud to have walked the Mackinaw Bridge on Labor Day for 10 years consecutively with her family. She had a strong Lutheran faith and was proud of her Swedish heritage, often living up to the expression, “one tough Swede!” Joyce loved her dog, Moses and he was her loyal companion. Over the last several years she enjoyed playing the Michigan Lotto. Most of all, time with her family made her heart full; the family outings, dinners and especially time together around Christmas were things she valued most. She will be deeply missed by her nephew, Jimmy Anderson; nieces, Paula Anderson Spalding, Kathy Anderson Durkin and Wanda Anderson; first cousin, Rosanne Anderson; great nieces and nephews: Amanda Anderson Harrison, Renee Spalding, Ryan Spalding, Paul Durkin, Brian Durkin; great-great nieces and nephews: Landon Durkin, Vince Durkin, Eli Durkin, Levi Durkin, Isabelle Durkin, Elizabeth Harrison, Dominic Harrison, Connor Spalding. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Lois Anderson Thompson; nephews, Ralph Anderson and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. A private graveside service will be held.
