Lucille Margaret Polega

Lucille Margaret Polega of Cadillac passed away peacefully Sunday, June 11, 2017 at The Curry House with her loving family around her. She was 91. Mrs. Polega was born February 4, 1926 in Grand Rapids to John Paul and Mary Ann (Kawecki) Jablonski and they preceded her in death. On August 28, 1948 in Grand Rapids she married Chester John "ChetÃ¢â‚¬Â Polega and he preceded her in death on September 16, 2004. Mrs. Polega loved being a mother and raising her children. In her working career she sold Avon Cosmetics and was a clerk at Matthews Drugstore in Grand Rapids. In 1964 the family moved to the Cadillac area where she owned and operated the Blue Gingham Inn along with her husband, Chet. Following that Mrs. Polega worked as a hostess at Big Boy Restaurant in Cadillac. She also worked at Clark's Clothing, Dawn's Donuts, Giantway Grocery and was a cook at St. Ann School before retiring from the Apple Tree. After retiring she volunteered at Lakeview Lutheran Manor for nearly a decade. She was a lifelong member of St. Ann Catholic Church where she was a member of St. Michael's Circle for 50 years and an active member of the Legion of Mary. The greatest gift she gave her family was faith. She enjoyed casino trips, bingo and trips to Las Vegas. Mrs. Polega was a wonderful cook and had the ability to pull a meal together quickly for any family gathering, large or small. Mrs. Polega is survived by her children: Diane Polega, Daniel (Karen) Polega, Debra (Steve) Piwowarski all of Cadillac and Dennis (Karen) Polega of Washington, Pennsylvania; grandchildren: Tina (Terry) Mickelson, Michael (Shannon) Polega, Matthew (Rachael) Polega, Mark (Melissa) Polega, Tiffany Allred, Heidi (Luke) Scanlon, Nicole (Jason) Heyd, Nathan (Jennifer) Piwowarski, Troy Piwowarski, Brooke (Ryan) Smith and Deidra (Joe) Kavinsky; great-grandchildren: Leah, Oakley, Avery, Justin, Zoe, Christopher, Bethany, Addison, Olivia, Wyatt, Sadie, Madeline Lucille, Henry, Atley, Ezra, Harper and a baby due in October; sisters, Lorraine Jaworowski, Rita (Martin) Kuks; special friends, Bernie Borucki and Lauralie Yeomans. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son, David, who was Dan's twin brother; grandson, Dustin Polega; granddaughter, Tamara Polega; brother, John Jablonski and her sister, Mary Jane Kieda. The Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Cadillac with Msgr. Francis J. Murphy as celebrant. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the mass at church. Burial will take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Cadillac. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann Catholic School or Church, American Cancer Society for Research or Hospice of Michigan Cadillac Chapter.
