MayBelle Rexford

MayBelle Rexford of Cadillac after a brief illness went to be with her Lord Sunday, July 3, 2016. She was 91. MayBelle was born on November 17, 1924 in Crystal Falls, Michigan to Alvin Lewis & Edith Alberta (Erikson) Burridge. On January 26, 1946 in Cadillac she married Bruce R. Rexford and he preceded her in death on March 18, 1998. MayBelle graduated from Cadillac High School in 1942 and went on to receive an Associate's degree from Stevens College in Columbia, Missouri. MayBelle had been employed at Caberfae Ski Area, Camp Torenta, Cadillac Area Chamber of Commerce and retired from Cadillac Area Public Schools after over 20 years of service. Mrs. Rexford had been an active member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Cadillac and served as their Church Ministry Coordinator to Love INC. She also had volunteered at Mercy Hospital (Munson Healthcare) in Cadillac for many years, as well as the American Red Cross, American Cancer Society and the Shepherd's Table. MayBelle was a lifelong member of the D.A.R. and the Daisy Chain of the Cadillac Elks Lodge. Mrs. Rexford loved gardening, reading, spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She was an avid bridge player and had played for over 50 years. Survivors include her children: Robert (Evelyn) Rexford of Cadillac, Chuck (Maggie) Rexford of Simpsonville, SC, Lynn (Kevin) Cummings of Cadillac and John (Sue) Rexford of Weidman, MI; 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and a brother, Charles "Kinney" (Janet) Burridge of Kent, WA and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband MayBelle was preceded in death by a grandson, Curtis Rexford in 2001, a great granddaughter, Ava Joy Bennet in 2011 and 3 brothers, William, George and Lewis Burridge and good friends, Paul Moore and Cleo Friend. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the United Methodist Church of Cadillac. Friends may meet the family from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Friday, July 8, 2016 at Peterson Funeral & Cremation Services in Cadillac. Her final resting place will be Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac.
