Patrick Lyndon Koschmider

Patrick Lyndon Koschmider of Cadillac, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 after a long battle with cancer. He passed peacefully, at home, surrounded by his family. He was 76 years old. He was born March 30, 1948 in Cadillac to Carlton and Beatrice (Greeley) Koschmider. Pat was rarely separated from his wife Shannon. They dated for 6 years before being married for 53 years. They lived for each other. Pat enjoyed being in the outdoors any chance he got. In the woods was where he felt closest to God. Through the years he hunted bear, deer, and other animals. He also enjoyed shooting sports. He spent time in the Upper Peninsula and Kalkaska wilderness area any chance he had. The little things in life meant the most to him. Honesty, integrity, and loyalty were not just words, but how he lived his life on a daily basis. Pat enjoyed himself most when he was spending time with family or friends, whether he was camping or watching NASCAR and riding ATVs with his grandsons. His only granddaughter was very special to him and he loved each of his grandchildren like they were the only one. He was a very devoted son, husband, father, and grandfather. He always made sure everyone else’s needs came before his. He made everyone feel welcome. Pat always carried a loving and adventurous sparkle in his eye. Pat hated to sit idle. He worked as a tool and die maker most of his life. He was also an NRA instructor who enjoyed teaching the fundamentals of gun safety and shooting sports. He took great pleasure in gardening and being self-sufficient. Patrick is survived by his loving wife, Shannon Koschmider, children, Christina Koschmider and Brian (Anne) Koschmider, his grandchildren: Hunter and Kaden Dennis, and Kellan and Abrielle Koschmider. By siblings, Alan Koschmider, Timothy (Carol) Koschmider, Carole (Edward) Lauermann, sister and brother in laws, many nieces and nephews, cousins and family and great friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by close friend and cousin Roger Greeley, sisters-in-law, Erin Barrows and Denise Fox. Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Peterson Funeral and Cremation Services with Mr. Kevin Hughes officiating. Following the service there will be a luncheon at the Cadillac Sportsman Club. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 with a rosary service beginning at 6:30 PM. His final resting place will be Haring Township Cemetery in Wexford County. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
