Wayne Lee Chandler

Wayne Lee Chandler, of Cadillac, was called home to his Lord and Savior on August 10, 2016 after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. He was 75. Wayne was born October 8, 1940 to Harvey Leroy and Ethel Marie (Mundy) Chandler, on the family homestead in the Slagle Township, Wexford County, Michigan. He attended Hoxeyville and Mesick public schools. He was an amazing Father, Husband, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Uncle, Brother and Friend. He will be greatly missed by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing him and his contagious laugh, hilarious stories and love of all things outdoors. He farmed all of his life, spent a great amount of time logging and worked for Reith and Riley as a Street Foreman until his retirement in 1999. He then spent his days enjoying everything that Northern Michigan had to offer him as an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his second wife, Donna Chandler (Married December 1998 in Tennessee); children, Harvey (Lisa) of Lake City, Ginger (Gregory) Hale and JoLeean (Charles) Kennard all of Cadillac; step children: Andrea (Derek) Manchip of Charlotte, Gaylyn (Andy) Mayhew of Cadillac, Amy Bolles of Saginaw, Michelle (Gary) Geiger of Lake City; grandchildren and absolute reason for laughing: Eric (Krystal) Watrous of Cadillac, Brandie (Steve) Corrigan of White Cloud, Allen (Teresa Grover) Hale of Bristol, Kaila (Anthony) Rowell of Lake City, Jenna (Joseph) Schutt of McBain, Christopher (April) Chandler of Mount Pleasant, Elizabeth Kennard and Luke Kennard, Gregory (Stephanie) Hale, Jr. all of Cadillac, Katrina Hale and Tommy Hale, both of South Bend, Indiana, Jordon and Kortney Manchip of Charlotte, Nikki Pickel of Marion, Ben Mayhew of Cadillac, Spencer Musselmann of Lake City, Haley, Hannah and Hunter Geiger all of Lake City; thirteen great grandchildren; siblings: Ruth (Sid) Harris, Dan Chandler, Gordon Chandler, Meda (Doug) Jewett, Bonnie (Denny, Jr.) Sawyer, Rachel (Burke) Clayson-Cotes and countless nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Joan Ann Lee Chandler in 1991, after 32 wonderful years of marriage; parents, Harvey and Ethel; brothers, Marvin and Keith; sister, Elaine Sawyer, and grandchildren, Alyssa and Jacob. Funeral services will take place 1:00 PM Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Peterson Funeral and Cremation Services in Cadillac with Reverend Everett Simerson officiating.
